Gili, a typical term in Lombok meaning small island. Gili Kedis, Sudaq, Tangkong, Nanggu are administratively included in the West Sekotong region, West Lombok, located in waters that are part of the bay area. This is certainly very comfortable for snorkeling activities, with a variety of coral reefs and colorful fish ranging from small to the size of two adult palms. Until now, Gili Kedis and Gili Tangkong are uninhabited, only Gili Sudaq and Nanggu have inhabitants.
Gili Kedis This island with a length of approximately 10 meters and a width of also 10 meters is very exotic, uninhabited of course because of its cuteness. Around it, there are still coral reefs, although their beauty has been greatly reduced due to the increasing number of tourists snorkeling without paying attention to the coral reefs by stepping on them. Colonies of colorful small fish and sometimes we can find crabs in the crevices of the coral rocks. If seen from the top of the right hill, at a glance the shape of Gili Kedis resembles a heart.
Gili Sudaq Located close to Gili Kedis, about 100 meters, so tourists who are strong enough to swim or canoe sometimes go back and forth Sudaq-Kedis by swimming & canoeing. In Sudaq there is only 1 inn, no residential houses. A gentle breeze will welcome our arrival at the boat landing place on the side of the beach shaded by several fir trees. We can enjoy lunch on Gili Sudaq by ordering a menu at the inn's restaurant. On its beach, we find many small sea stars, and a bit to the center, many blue & orange sea stars can be found while snorkeling.
Gili Nanggu Yes, since 2005, this Gili has been famous for its tame fish with relatively large sizes (two palms of an adult). Imagine the excitement of snorkeling while surrounded by schools of large and colorful fish. Why are there always so many fish on Gili Nanggu? Because the inn management applies strict rules that fishing/taking fish by any means is not allowed and stepping on coral reefs is prohibited. This is proven by the planting of coral reef transplantation media made of iron and concrete, which adds to the natural panorama of the underwater world of Gili Nanggu.
On the stretch of soft white sand, berugaq (gazebos) have been provided for tourists to rest, with a shady atmosphere under the lush fir trees and the melodious cooing of wild turtle doves. On the other side of Gili Nanggu, there is a kind of forest dominated by banten trees in the Sasak language. The lush tree branches form a kind of forest canopy that adds to the exoticism of Gili Nanggu.
