Explore Mumber Cave Bangkat Monteh

Mumber Cave is located in Bangkat Monteh village, Brang Rea sub-district, West Sumbawa regency. From Taliwang city, the journey by motorbike takes about 20-30 minutes to the east, directional signs are clearly displayed towards Brang Rea.

Throughout the journey, we will be presented with a panorama of rice fields and hills. Approaching Bangkat Monteh village, we will be welcomed by a wide stretching river, yes because Bangkat Monteh Village is the last village directly facing the forest.

Guide information to go to Mumber Cave can be obtained at the village office, which is located at one corner of the crossroads near the village field. A warm welcome from the village officials and the youth who will guide us to the cave is very strongly felt.

From the village to the edge of the forest, we go by motorbike taxi or pick-up, about 20 minutes, with relatively off-road terrain. A treat of panoramas of large trees and fog will welcome us, and a cool breeze touches the skin.

From one of the forest entrances, we start trekking for about 1 hour on foot. Make sure you have enough logistics to accompany the action of breaking through the forest towards Mumber Cave inside. Throughout the journey through the forest, mosquitoes faithfully fly & stick to the body. It is best to prepare mosquito repellent lotion and wear long-sleeved clothes. The cool forest air and birdsong become the typical nuances that color the jungle exploration of Mumber Cave.

Arriving at the mouth of the cave which is a niche into the bowels of the earth, stalagmites & stalactites of various sizes welcome us. At the mouth of the cave, there is a wide field that can be used to set up 6 tents and make a campfire.

Entering inside Mumber Cave, please be careful when stepping because the path is descending and dark. Arriving at the bottom, the soil and air feel damp, and there are sounds of bats, but fortunately there is no typical guano smell. With limited visibility, the area of Mumber Cave is estimated to be as large as a football field. Very amazed by God's exotic creation.

Alternatives to go to Mumber Cave: The journey can use a motorbike or car from Mataram city to Kayangan port in East Lombok about 2.5 hours. Cross using a Ferry boat to Pototano port in West Sumbawa about 2 hours. The journey from Pototano to Taliwang city takes about 1.5 hours. From Taliwang city to Bangkat Monteh village, Brang Rea, the highway has been paved smoothly. Insha Allah, the route is safe and comfortable, with many residential houses along the way. From the village office of Bangkat Monteh, rent a motorbike taxi/pick-up to go to the forest entrance. After getting permission from the village officials, a friendly and agile guide will be provided to accompany our journey in the forest to Mumber Cave.

Preparation for Jungle Exploration of Mumber Cave: Bottled mineral water & snacks (logistics) Gas stove, cooking utensils, tent (if staying overnight) Personal medicine, mosquito repellent lotion Many flashlights and a large portable light with long battery life.
